Naturopathy is an ancient holistic natural medicine. It focuses on all aspects of the individual and aims to provide a comprehensive solution: physical, psycho-emotional, and energetic.
Naturopathy can be traced back to the 4th century BC, as it is based on the principles of Hippocrates (460 – 356 BC). It should be noted that from Antiquity to the 17th century, naturopathy was the common medicine for all. The first naturopathy school was established in 1901 in the United States under the influence of a German physician, Dr. Benedict Lust. The principles taught were based on lifestyle techniques. The biologist Pierre Valentin Marchesseau (1911-1994) was the founder of contemporary Naturopathy in France, influenced by prominent figures of the time in the USA (Lutz, Mac-Fadden, Krishnamurti) and in France (Carton, Mono, Rouhet).
Since 1978, it has been recognized by the WHO (World Health Organization) as a Traditional Western Medicine, along with Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, as they have been based on similar natural foundations and principles for millennia.
Naturopathy is complementary to modern allopathic medicine.
Naturopathy and its benefits
As you have understood, naturopathy is a comprehensive and complete method that primarily works on stimulating the body’s natural defense and balance mechanisms. The body has all the knowledge to create its natural healing processes.
The goal of the naturopath is to guide you in preserving, optimizing, or regaining balance and vitality when they are lacking. To do this, they stimulate your body’s regenerative potential by relying on your strengths.
As a natural medicine, naturopathy allows you to adopt healthy lifestyle habits for a fulfilling life.
* In naturopathy, “vitality” refers to the overall defensive, adaptive, and regulatory factors of an individual. It is complementary to modern allopathic medicine.

* According to the WHO: “Prevention refers to all actions aimed at reducing the incidence of a disease and thus reducing the occurrence of new cases. By acting upstream, this prevention prevents the onset of the disease.”
