The founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui (1865 – 1926), was a Japanese meditator. He received training in meditation from a young age and throughout his life.
As a researcher in psychology and human functioning, he created Reiki in 1922 as a synthesis of all his knowledge to promote well-being in others.
Reiki: The Energy of Well-Being
The word “Reiki” originates from Japanese and means “energy (force) of the mind or soul.”
Reiki is both an energetic and psychosomatic support. It combines relaxation and meditation through touch. It is a technique for long-lasting well-being and an invitation to happiness, used in assisting others and providing energy through hands-on contact. It allows individuals to access their well-being by dissolving energetic blockages.
This universal energy possesses its own “intelligence,” enabling it to direct itself precisely where the person needs it and causing no undesirable side effects. The personal energy of the practitioner never interferes with the process.
Reiki, You, and Me
My role is to channel energy through hands-on or light and specific touch on specific parts of the body, while simultaneously engaging in meditative work.
This meditative relaxation work through touch invites you, while lying down (and fully clothed), to do nothing and release psychophysical tensions. In doing so, you activate your potential for body and mind regeneration and balance.
Through consecutive sessions, you develop and strengthen long-lasting well-being. Some use Reiki to give meaning to their lives by accessing their deeper dimensions.
